True rough field, dirt strip capability

Air Tractor agricultural and firefighting aircraft have a fifty year heritage of operating day after day off the roughest dirt strips that to a military eye might look more like helicopter Landing Zones than runways.

Some other light trainers are built to fly off 5,000 foot concrete runways. Their small wings, low prop clearance, small landing gear, and lack of reverse pitch make “semi-prepared” surface operation an afterthought.

The Air Tractor’s long, high-lift straight wing, fixed steel spring landing gear, oversized tires, huge dual disc brakes, and full reverse pitch, allow the Air Tractor to takeoff and land on nearly any surface in hundreds of feet instead of thousands.
